CUT

The cut is the most significant factor in creating sparkle and fire, and even a diamond of high quality can appear dull and lifeless without a high cut grade

CLARITY

This refers to the inclusions (internal) or blemishes (external) that are present in the stone.

COLOUR

Diamonds are graded in color from D to Z. The scale starts with D, representing colorless diamonds, and ends at Z, which represents light yellow or brown diamonds. A diamond with a lighter yellow or brown color is considered lower in color grade. In contrast, a colorless stone allows the maximum amount of light to pass through, enhancing its brilliance and fire. Therefore, the whiter a diamond, the higher its price tends to be.

CARAT WEIGHT

Diamond carat is often misunderstood as it refers to a diamond’s weight, rather than its size. When comparing diamond carat sizes, it is crucial to consider the diamond’s cut as well. A high-carat diamond with a poor cut grade may appear smaller, often cut deeper, than a diamond with a smaller carat weight but a better cut.

THE LAB PROCESS

Diamond Seed Selection

In a world where technology and nature intertwine, a captivating process takes place, giving birth to the exquisite allure of CVD Lab-grown diamonds. Our factory partners process our lab-grown diamond pieces to meet global quality standards that rival even our natural grown pieces.

Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)

Via the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) method. The diamond seed is placed in a specialised chamber, which is then filled with a carbon-rich gas, such as methane. The chamber is heated to extreme temperatures, sometimes exceeding 1,500 degrees Celsius, releasing carbon atoms. These settle on the diamond seed, layer by layer, slowly building up the diamond crystal structure accelerated within a controlled environment.

Growth & Diamond Formation

This phase can take several weeks, scientists monitor various factors, such as temperature, pressure, and gas composition. By carefully adjusting these parameters the diamond’s quality, color, and other characteristics can be influenced as time passes, for the diamond reach its desired size.

Cutting & Polishing

Once the diamond has reached its desired size, it is carefully extracted from the growth chamber. To unlock its attributes, skilled diamond cutters take over. These artisans use traditional cutting and polishing techniques to maximise its sparkle in various industrial applications.

Grading & Certification

Our manufacturers lab grown and natural diamonds are rigorously tested in a grading process tested by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). These factors include the diamond’s 4Cs: Carat Weight, Colour, Clarity, and Cut.

Quality & Final Inspection

Quality is key, control measures are implemented to ensure consistent quality. This includes monitoring parameters, sampling and testing, equipment calibration, and maintaining traceability and documentation.
